‘DWTS’ Judge Derek Hough Asks for Prayers as He Shares Development on Wife’s Hospitalization

Derek Hough believes in the power of prayer as he asks fans and friends alike to continue including his wife, Hayley Erbert, in their prayers. Hailey Erbert was set to go through another surgery following her last procedure.

Derek Hough and Hailey Erbert started their December on a sour note after she experienced a sudden health issue post-performance. Recently, Hough turned to fans through social media to ask for prayers and support from those who knew the couple.

The dancer and choreographer thanked his Instagram followers for the love they have shown and continued to ask for their prayers, which have worked throughout Erbert's recovery.

"She is going in for surgery this morning to replace a large portion of her skill that was removed during her Craniectomy," Hugh said. " Please keep her in your prayers as I believe the collective energy helped her through these past few weeks."

On December 8, 2023, Hough shared what had happened to his wife the evening before. According to the "Dancing with the Stars" star, Erbert became disoriented after a Washington, D.C. performance. The doctors diagnosed her with cranial hematoma and performed an emergency craniectomy.

During the procedure, doctors removed a piece of her skull, which needed to be replaced with the second surgery. Hough has since been giving fans updates on Erbert's recovery through Instagram and revealed that her condition was "life-threatening."

Fortunately, Erbert responded well to the initial treatment. Besides thanking their fans, Hough also praised his wife for her strength and resilience amidst a challenging situation.
